"I’m too tired to cook when I get in from work"
Sometimes, getting a home-cooked meal together is the last thing you feel like doing when you fall through the door in the evening. And with a busy family appearing for meals at different times, it’s often impractical to cook once for all of them.
Instead, why not:
- Use the good food that’s already in your cupboards. A bowl of Heinz Soup, with a slice of granary bread, is a quick, convenient evening meal. Or give them their all-time favourites: Heinz Spaghetti or Baked Beanz on wholemeal toast. Top Tip: To top up their wegetable intake, try adding a little diced broccoli, carrot or leek into their meal, instead of grated cheese.
- Double up on your quantities whenever you do find time to cook. Not only will you save a few pennies by buying in bulk, but you can also freeze half for another day. Top Tip: Always thoroughly defrost frozen food and reheat thoroughly till piping hot.
- Ask them to do the cooking for you. Put out a range of healthier pizza topping alternatives and get the kids to make their own pizzas. All you have to do is pop their creations in the oven and serve with a salad or coleslaw.
- Spud-u-like? Bung some jacket potatoes in the oven, or quicker still the microwave, and top with tuna and salad, Heinz Baked Beanz, roasted vegetables or for a spicy alternative, one of the new Heinz Mean Beanz range.
- Go big. A cottage pie or lasagna, with a huge, tasty salad for the whole family to tuck into, ready whatever time they get round to eating, will save you time and ensure they’re all eating healthy grub.
